Chronology

1968 - Construction began on the Omsk Plastics Plant. Seven years after the foundation had been laid, the plant rolled-out its first production.

1975 - Multiple workshops, storehouses, acetaldehyde, acids and alkali inventories, air compressor station, energy system, steam and water supplies and sewage system were built. In addition, the plant produced its first output of 2-Ethylexyl.

1977 - Plthalic Anhydride production began.

1980 - The MMCP (Methyl Methacrylate Copolymer Polystyrene) Division was put into operation. In addition, construction started on the largest polystyrene plant in the Soviet Union.

1981 - Production of general-purpose polystyrene and various brands of shockproof polystyrene based on the technology of the American company «Cozden» began.

1982-1987 - The plant switched to domestic raw materials and improved its technological processes. This allowed the plant to produce a line of new brands: UPS-0801 (for producing food packaging), UPS-800FM (freon-resistant polystyrene for producing refrigerator parts), and UPS-0803E (for manufacturing sheets and components for internal use in refrigerators).

In the succeeding years the manufacturing output of the Omsk Plastics Plant increased.

1985 - The Ester Production Unit, ALKAN-120, was introduced.

1989 - The first shop in the Ion-Exchange Resins Complex began operating.

1990 - The Copolymer Divinylbenzene and Styrene Production Unit and the Copolymer, Monochlorodimethyl Ether and Anionite Production Plant began production.

1994-1995 - Production began on polystyrene film and disposable tableware.

1996 - The Phthalic Anhydride Production Unit reached the maximum annual output of 25,000 tons.

Appropriate and effective marketing and production policies allowed Omsk Chemical Company to meet the challenges presented during the rouble devaluation crisis of 1998.

2000-2002 - This period marked the beginning of production of a new brand of general purpose polystyrene (PSS-550-020) for foam extrusion. Its technical characteristics are equal to the most prestigious foreign competitors. In this period of time, the brands UPS-825E and UPS-800FM were also improved, and a new high-quality brand (UPS-785) with high-fluidity was created.

2002 - Extrusion Formed Polystyrene Film Production (with additional vacuum molding into disposable packing such as cups, trays for convenience foods, base sheets for processed meat and confectionaries) was put into production with the latest up-to-date equipment.

2002 - The need to place the company on a more competitive footing resulted in corporate restructuring. New management practices and expert marketing strategies were implemented. All production sites were merged into a single production complex, allowing the company to take steps toward a new stage of development under the name of «Omsk Chemical Company».

Omsk Chemical Company today is one of the industry leaders in the chemical products market, with even brighter prospects for future success.
